Yay! It's done! I really liked this whole thing. And there at the end? Where he looks at the maze and thinks about going to Hogsmeade with Luna afterwards -- and we know what's coming ... at least in canon?
Well, I'm just going to pretend he learned something different from Luna, or does something different that makes the ending different. *sob* That was too sad.
And if you're ever inclined to come back and do more Cedric and Luna, after this last conversation here, I'm actually curious to see what would happen in a world where they did make it to adulthood, and he did make it into the Ministry. How would Luna's words shape his approach?
There are so many ways one could go with that, from Cedric under Scrimgeour during Harry's sixth year, to Cedric trying to survive the Ministry during the 7th year hunt -- and how would he handle Luna's capture? To years later, after the war in the rebuilding.
Bellatrix implied that one had to MEAN it for the A.K. to work. Maybe Peter Pettigrew didn't mean it *quite* enough to actually kill Cedric. Maybe he wound up cursed and hospitalized like, oh, Katie Bell in Harry's 6th year (only worse). So he spends his "last year" at Hogwarts (or more) in hospital in a coma. Take him out of the picture altogether. Bring him back later. Could he help Luna heal from being in the Malfoy's basement? (Because you know that has to haunt her.) A little "payback" for her helping him.
(Sorry for the edit, I hit "post" before I was finished with my thought.)
But see, you've got me thinking now. Ha. Maybe I'll get you thinking in turn? *iz evils*
